2023 Catalog Update (+ Partial Preview!)

Ok! We’re now inventorying the fields in preparation for our July Peony Catalog.

Which feels like a bit of a relief given the ridiculously tough bloom season we had!

I just gotta ask. Who else had a peony bloom season that went kinda like this:

  • An early Spring that was too warm

  • With weeks of no rain

  • Then the latest hardest frost you’ve ever seen

  • Then way too much rain (that still hasn’t stopped)

  • And an early summer that was way too cool

If you’ve seen this kind of radical fluctuation, then Gardening Friend, you’re not alone. Not only did our fields endure all of this, we’re hearing some verison of this story from so many garden friends/fellow growers.

I guess in times like this we just take a measure of comfort in the fact that it’s not just us. That there isn’t much we can do about it anyway. And that - of course - there’s always next year.

(Which will surely be perfect and glorious without any bad weather at all, right?)

But let’s set that aside and talk Peony Catalog. Here’s what we know about our July Catalog so far:

When ARe you ReLeasing the Catalog?

Most likely the catalog will release the last week of July (worst case, the first week of August).

In advance of the catalog release, I’ll send you an email containing:

  • A link to the catalog

  • The exact date and time the catalog goes live

If you’re not on our email list, you may sign up here. I will also send a reminder email just a bit before the catalog opens.

Will there still be a Week of Private Shopping For Email List members?

Yes, all email list subscribers have access to a week of private shopping before we open the catalog to the public.

If you’ve already signed up of our email list, you’re all set and don’t need to sign up again.

If you’re not on our email list but would like to join this list and gain access to private shopping, you can request it here.

What varieties will you have this year?

We’re still working out the details but below is a preview of the varieties we’re most likely to have.

Herbaceous (Lactiflora)

Unlike our 2022 Catalog, we’ll have a much more robust selection of lactifloras this year, including several varieties we’ve never offered before. Varieties will likely include:

Herbaceous Hybrids

As long time customers know, our 2022 Fall Catalog centered around rare Herbaceous Hybrids. Consequently this year’s Herbaceous Hybrid offering features somewhat fewer rare cultivars. That said, we do hope to have limited quantities of the following gems:

Itohs (Intersectionals)

We’re thrilled to offer several new (to us) itohs in this year’s calendar including:

Tree Peony Divisions

We’re so sorry but we will not be sellling tree peony divisions again until 2024.

Long story short, we moved our tree peony divisions last year to convert that field to perennial cut flower production. Due to the move + unusually volatile Fall and Spring growing conditions, we decided to be cautious and give the plants a year to regain strength before offering them to you. We want them in tip-top shape for your gardens!

Ok - so that’s the preview Folks. Please understand that between now and the catalog release some varieties may change.
